Almost 25 years ago I purchased a swimming pool for my family home.. Gas heat didn't seem practical at the time as I was also paying the power company for my Summer Air Conditioning and the extra for the pool heat didn't seem right. help save for always.Here is a test for your hot water heater .... After it's not been used for several hours take your hand and feel the hot pipe going out of the hot water tank. One side is cold coming in and the other is hot going out. Now if you run hot water in the house the pipe will be warm or even hot because of the heated water going through it. But If the water hasn't been turned on for a while the pipe should be cool to the touch all along it's path.. If it is warm or hot this means that you are thermalsyphioning heat out of your hot water tank when you actually are not using hot water. This is like a radiant heater radiating heat out into the room.
